Michael H. Gruhin
49+ Years. One Mission.
Since 1976, Mike Gruhin has devoted his legal career to one cause: making sure injured Ohio workers get every dollar and every benefit the law provides — while the BWC and employers work to take it away.
He is one of fewer than 30 attorneys in all of Ohio — and one of only 4 in Northeast Ohio — certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Workers’ Compensation Specialist representing injured workers.
How rare is this certification?
The OSBA Board Certification in Workers’ Compensation is one of the most demanding specialty certifications in Ohio law. Here’s how the numbers break down for injured workers in Northeast Ohio.

The story behind the credentials
Mike Gruhin has practiced Ohio personal injury and workers’ compensation law since 1976. He has personally handled injury claims of all sizes — from simple work injuries to catastrophic amputations, punch press accidents, trench cave-ins, and scaffold falls — successfully resolving claims against employers ranging from individuals to large corporations.
“There is no such thing as a run-of-the-mill case. The most effective way an attorney can add to the value of a client’s claim is to discover those facts which make it unusual, out of the ordinary, and different from the rest of the pack.”
Mike was certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Workers’ Compensation Specialist in 1999 — a designation that requires demonstrated expertise, peer review, and rigorous examination. He has maintained that certification for over 26 consecutive years, placing him among the longest-tenured certified injured-worker specialists in the state.
At Gruhin & Gruhin, LLC, every case is treated as if it were our own. Mike pursues every item that can add to the value of a claim — AWW corrections, overlooked diagnoses, psychological overlays, wage loss, PPD increases — so that clients receive the full value of what the law provides, not just what the BWC is willing to volunteer.
Based in Cuyahoga County, Mike works in close collaboration with an experienced BWC legal team with offices throughout the state, serving injured workers in all 88 Ohio counties - from Greater Cleveland, Akron, and Canton to Columbus, Toledo, Dayton, and Cincinnati. When you call Gruhin & Gruhin, LLC, you are not getting a massive call center. You are getting a dedicated specialist and a team that treats your case with the individual attention it deserves.

The full team behind your claim
Mike’s approach has always been collaborative. He understands that the BWC system is complex, time-sensitive, and adversarial — and that injured workers deserve more than a solo practitioner working in isolation.
Co-counsel legal team
Mike works in close collaboration with an experienced Ohio BWC legal team. This arrangement ensures that every client receives both the specialist-level expertise that comes from 49+ years of BWC practice and the full active representation — at hearings, appeals, and negotiations — that complex claims demand. You get the best of both: a certified specialist’s judgment and a full team’s execution.
